Bailey Named to Bednarik Watch List

Junior linebacker Markus Bailey has been named to the watch list for the 2018 Chuck Bednarik Award.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Junior linebacker Markus Bailey has been named to the watch list for the 2018 Chuck Bednarik Award. The Bednarik Award has been presented to the college defensive player of the year since 1995. Bednarik, a former standout at Penn and with the Philadelphia Eagles, is a member of both the College Football Hall of Fame's Class of '69 and the NFL Hall of Fame's Class of '67.
 
Bailey, a native of Columbus, Ohio, is Purdue's leading returning tackler from 2017, after amassing 89 total stops last season. He finished the year with 11 tackles for loss, including seven sacks, two pass break ups, an interception, a fumble forced and a fumble recovered.
 
A two-year starter for the Boilermakers, Bailey has racked up 198 career tackles with 17 tackles for loss and five interceptions.
