WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -
The Big Ten Championships are next on tap for the Boilermaker track & field teams. The 11th-ranked women are looking to defend their title after winning a year ago, while the No. 30 men tout a talented group led by sophomore Ashmon Lucas who is the national leader in the discus. This year's three-day meet is hosted by Indiana University. Action in Bloomington is set to begin Friday at noon ET at the Robert C. Haugh Track & Field Complex.

Live coverage is available online at FloTrack and on BTN2Go.com.

The senior-led women's team returns the majority of its production from last year's conference champion team. Devynne Charlton leads the way as she is looking to defend her titles in the 100-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles and as a member of the 4x100-meter relay. The Boilermakers have won three straight 4x100-meter relay conference titles. Symone Black has won a pair of 400-meter hurdles conference titles. She enters the meet with the fastest time in the event. A victory for her would make her just the third woman in conference history to win the event three times in her career.

Senior Savannah Carson, junior Janae' Moffitt and sophomore Sekayi Bracey are also back in action after the three, as well as Charlton, did not compete at the indoor conference championships. Carson is third in the Big Ten this season in the long jump after winning the event a year ago. Moffitt has a pair of runner-up finishes in the high jump, while Bracey made finals in the long jump and 100-meter dash as a freshman last year.

The women's team finished runner-up at the indoor championships behind Minnesota. The Golden Gophers enter the meet ranked 10th in the country, one spot higher than Purdue.

On the men's side, the Boilermakers are led by a core of underclassmen. Freshman Rahman Minor is second in the conference in the high jump and is coming off a win in the event at the Drake Relays. Sophomore Jaret Carpenter is also second in the conference with his mark coming in the 5,000-meter run. Redshirt freshman Jalil Brewer is fourth in the conference in the shot put. Sophomore Waseem Williams is among the conference leads in the 100- and 200-meter dashes and also anchors the 4x100-meter relay. He was the gold medalist in the 60-meter dash indoors.

Seniors Eric Blackman and Justin Veteto lead the way for the upperclassmen. Both have scored five points at Big Ten Outdoor Championships in their careers. Veteto is second in the conference in the 110-meter hurdles, while Blackman is fifth in the high jump.

Live results for the meet will be provided by Prime Time Timing. Updates, pictures and videos will be posted up-to-the-minute on Twitter @PurdueTrackXC. Full notes on the Boilermakers can be found at the top of the page.
