WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue (8-27, 1-5 B1G) is set for its first home midweek contest of the season as it hosts Fort Wayne (14-20) on Wednesday at Bittinger Stadium. The Boilermakers defeated the Mastodons 10-0 in five innings at Bittinger Stadium a year ago.

The Boilermakers are coming off a week in which they defeated Notre Dame and dropped a three-game series to No. 17 Michigan. Sydney Bates was dominant against the Fighting Irish and showed flashes against one of the top offenses in the Big Ten. The redshirt freshman allowed just one run in a complete-game 64-pitch victory against Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, when the Fighting Irish were ranked as the top offense in the ACC and boasted a top-30 RPI.

Bates then allowed just two earned runs in six innings of work in the opener against the Wolverines and followed up on Sunday with four innings of one run ball until Michigan broke the game open in the fifth with a grand slam.

Freshman Rachel Krzysko hit .400 with a run scored and a sacrifice in the four starts in left field that she was given. Jenny Behan and Alexa Binckes each registered three hits in the four-game span and the three-four combo added three doubles, three runs batted in and a run scored as well.
