BATON ROUGE, La. - Purdue (2-16) fell 2-0 in its rematch against Illinois State (8-12) despite a strong outing by Kaitlynn Moody and production from the top of the lineup. Of the Redbirds' two runs only one was earned as an error in the second inning with two outs allowed Illinois State to claim an early lead.

Moody went the distance, throwing seven innings and giving up just four hits and three free passes while striking out four of the 31 batters she faced. The junior gave up just one earned run in the final inning of play.

Overall, Purdue's pitching was the most notable improvement in the LSU Invitational as Sydney Bates earned a 3.00 ERA and Moody's ERA was slightly higher at 3.13. They each threw a complete game, Bates tossed 18.2 innings while Moody gave the Boilermakers 15.2 innings of work.

The Boilermakers stranded six runners on the base paths over the course of the game. Purdue's one-two punch of Mallory Baker and Ryleigh Scott reached base a total of four times in the game but were unable to score. Baker was credited with a single and a walk while Scott picked up a couple of singles to improve on her already impressive weekend.

Scott and Baker were Purdue's top hitters over the weekend as Scott hit .389 and Baker hit .313. Scott registered seven hits in 18 at-bats with a stolen base and a pair of runs scored while Baker hit .313 with three walks, five hits, a double and a couple of runs scored as well.
