GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Junior Yakira Love jumped into the program top 10 in the women's 200-meter dash on the first day of the Florida Relays. The Boilermakers competed in the men's and women's 200-meter dashes and the men's hammer throw on the opening day of the three-day meet.
Love won the fifth heat of the 200-meter dash. She had a personal-record time of 23.61 seconds (+2.0). That is the fourth-fastest time ever run by a Boilermaker behind only recent graduate Carmiesha Cox and current seniors Savannah Roberson and Brionna Thomas. Roberson was in the first heat of the race and finished with a wind-legal (+1.5) time of 23.48 seconds. That is her best wind-legal time since last year's NCAA East Prelims.
On the men's side, sophomore Waseem Williams had a wind-legal PR in the 200-meter dash. He finished with a time of 20.91 seconds (+1.6).
