WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - A day after being named to the watch list for the 2017 Wuerffel Trophy, it was announced that junior quarterback David Blough is a candidate for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award. The Golden Arm Award is presented at the end of each football season and the winner is selected based on his accomplishments both on and off the field. Candidates must be a college senior or fourth-year junior on schedule to graduate with their class.
A native of Carrollton, Texas, Blough is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection. Named honorable mention All-Big Ten after the 2016 season, he led the conference in passing yards per game average (279.3), completing 295 of 517 passes for 3,352 yards and 25 touchdowns in 12 starts.
Blough is slated to be the student-athlete speaker at the 46th-Annual Big Ten Kickoff Luncheon next Tuesday.
