WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Junior quarterback David Blough has been named to the watch list for the 2017 Wuerffel Trophy. The award, named after 1996 Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Danny Wuerffel, is presented annually to a player who best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement.

A native of Carrollton, Texas, Blough is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection. Named honorable mention All-Big Ten after the 2016 season, he led the conference in passing yards per game average (279.3), completing 295 of 517 passes for 3,352 yards and 25 touchdowns in 12 starts.

An active member in Purdue's Fellowship of Christian Athletes chapter, Blough has taken five missionary trips to an orphanage in South Africa over the last three years. He is among the most active players on the team with local community service and has served on the Boilermaker Athletic Council each of the last two years.

Blough is slated to be the student-athlete speaker at the 46th-Annual Big Ten Kickoff Luncheon next Tuesday.
