CAIRO, Egypt - Purdue sophomore Carsen Edwards closed out a strong FIBA U19 World Cup, leading Team USA to the bronze medal in today's 96-72 win over Spain.
The Stars and Stripes closed out the tournament with a 6-1 record, falling to eventual champion Canada in Saturday's semifinals 99-87.
Edwards ranked fifth on the team in scoring (10.4 PPG), while leading the squad in assists (23) and minutes played (140) and finishing second in 3-pointers made (12). During the seven games, Edwards averaged 10.4 points, 3.3 assists, 1.7 rebounds and 0.9 steals per game in 20.0 minutes per contest. He shot 25-of-54 (.463) from the field and 12-of-29 (.414) from long distance. One of Team USA's two primary point guards, Edwards recorded a 23:9 (2.56) assist:turnover ratio.
