WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Abby Abel is the first and only walkon player in Purdue head coach Sharon Versyp's 12 seasons with the Boilermakers, speaking volumes to the rising junior's character and work ethic. Abel comes off a sophomore campaign that saw a handful of court appearances, and her first collegiate points.
Abel has continued to get the Boilermakers involved in her passionate work with the Special Olympics, including events like the Indianapolis Plane Pull Challenge and the Greater Lafayette Polar Plunge. She also organized the second-annual Play Unified Basketball Tournament at Purdue in the spring, including a variety of athletes and Greek houses on campus.
