WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue men's golf team begins its NCAA journey Monday when it tees off in the first round of the NCAA Regional Championships at the Kampen Course. Tee times begin at 8 a.m. ET, off hole No. 1, and Purdue, the seventh seed, will tee off beginning at 8:55 a.m. ET, and be paired with New Mexico and Augusta off hole No. 1.
The weather is forecast to be spectacular all three days and admission is free to the event.
Purdue Aims for Second Straight NCAA Champs Appearance
- Purdue competes in and hosts the 2017 West Lafayette Regional on the Kampen Course on May 15-17, looking for its second straight NCAA Championships appearance.
- The Boilermakers were awarded with the No. 7 seed in the region and welcome three SEC teams, the Big Ten champion and the Mountain West champion to West Lafayette.
- Purdue is 1-of-8 Big Ten teams to make the field and are the third highest-seeded Big Ten team (Illinois 2nd; Northwestern 5th).
The Last Time Out at the Big Ten Championships
- Purdue finished T-4th at the Big Ten Championships last weekend in Baltimore, shooting 18-over par 858 (284-284-290). The 858 is the 22nd-lowest 54-hole, and the lowest Big Ten, score in school history.
- Timmy Hildebrand (T-10th), Fernando Barco (T-16th) and Austin Eoff (T-19th) all finished in the top 20. Hildebrand's score of 212 was the lowest 54-hole score by a Purdue player in Big Ten Championships history.
Making History in the NCAAs
- Purdue has advanced to its fourth straight NCAA Regional competition, tied for the second-longest streak in school history. Purdue made 19 straight NCAA appearances from 1949-67, for its longest streak.
The Underdog Role Fits Nicely
- Over the last three years, Purdue has exceeded their seeding expectations at NCAA Regionals advancing to the NCAA Championships twice and losing in a playoff in the process. Purdue hopes to fit the underdog role again in the 2017 regional.
- Purdue is 1-of-3 Big Ten schools to make regionals the last four years (Illinois, Iowa). Purdue and Illinois are the only schools to advance to the nationals since 2013.
- Purdue's team stroke average of 288.79 is just 0.60 strokes behind the 2001-02 team for the best average in school history.
- Of the 24 top single-season stroke averages in school history, 10 have come during the Rob Bradley era, including four this year.
- Purdue has had 11 team rounds of even-par or better, the third most in a season in school history. The school record is 13 set last year.
- Purdue has advanced to 28 National Championships, the 19th most in school history. Among schools north of the 40-degree latitude line, only BYU (30) has more championship appearances.
- South Carolina assistant coach Jake Amos was an assistant at Purdue from 2014 to 2016. UNLV played at the Boilermaker Invitational at the Kampen Course on April 15-16.

- Fernando Barco ... named Second-Team All-Big Ten ... ranks second on the single-season stroke average list at Purdue (72.23) ... five straight top-16 finishes (T-12, 3, T-12, T-7, T-16), shooting a combined 8-under par in that span ... owns a 71.20 scoring average during the spring ... leads the team in par-4 scoring (+11) ... had seven straight rounds of even par or better earlier this year, the second-longest streak in school history ... has had a counting score in 17 straight rounds, dating to the 2nd round of the Bridgestone Collegiate (Oct. 31) ... named Big Ten POW on March 29.
