MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Big Ten's top offense proved too much to handle as No. 4 Minnesota (48-3, 19-1 B1G) swept Purdue (17-35, 6-14 B1G) in Saturday's doubleheader in Jane Sage Cowles Stadium. The Gophers defeated the Boilermakers 9-1 before winning the series finale 12-2 on their Senior Day.

Each of Purdue's three runs came off the long ball as Brook Perry homered in game one and Kaylah Hampton crushed a two-run homer in game two. The Boilermakers left five on-base and Kristen Hoppman was stranded twice after she singled and tripled on the day.

Perry and Lexi Valone had given the Boilermakers a spark early in game two with back-to-back singles, but an interference call took a base hit away from Katie Johnson that would have loaded the bases or possibly scored the runner from second.

Purdue wraps up the regular season in West Lafayette, Indiana, next weekend against Nebraska. The Boilermakers will be fighting for a spot in the Big Ten Tournament over the course of the three-game series. The first pitch of the series is set for 6 p.m. ET on Saturday, May 6 in Bittinger Stadium.
