Henssler Financial Intercollegiate Recap / Season Stats
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue senior August Kim secured Big Ten Women's Golfer of the Week honors for the second straight week and third time this season Wednesday after tying for medalist honors at the Henssler Financial Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday at Kennesaw State. Kim turned in three straight rounds of one-under, 71, to lead the Boilermakers to a second-place team finish at Pinetree Country Club and has a streak of six straight rounds of par or better.
Kim has been incredibly steady in her final season with the Boilermakers, shooting par or better in 15-of-21 rounds and averaging 72.1 strokes per 18 holes. She's placed in the top-five of five-of-seven tournaments, and posted a 3-0 match play record at UCLA's Gifford Great 8 Match Play event, leading the Boilermakers to a fourth-place showing.
Tuesday's medalist honors mark Kim's first tournament victory of the season and the third of her career, taking home the 2015 Dallas Athletic Club/SMU Invitational and the 2016 Big Ten Championship crown.
Kim and the Boilermakers return to action Friday, April 7, at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic, hosted by the University of Georgia at the UGA Golf Course. The event will feature an opening round of stroke play, followed by three rounds of match play.
