AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Purdue women's golf team opened up play at the 3M Augusta Invitational in solid fashion Friday, shooting even-par, 288, and sitting tied for second place in the team standings. Boilermaker freshman Micaela Farah paced the Boilermakers with a round of two-under, 70, while senior August Kim is just behind at one-under, 71, both in the top-10 of the individual standings.

Farah opened Friday with a bogey, and then sat at one-under for six more holes for breaking out. She dropped birdies on No. 8 and No. 9, and turned in her third in four holes with another on No. 11. She pushed her score to three-under with a birdie on the 15th hole, but finished the round with a bogey, still carding her top-18 hole score of her collegiate career.

Like Farah, Kim started slow but fought back to even her card at par after nine holes. Things went up-and-down over the last six holes, making bogey on No. 13, birdies on 14, 15 and 17, before finishing with a bogey on 18. Kim is one of seven players tied for fourth at one-under, 71.

Junior Marta Martin notched the third team score at one-over, 73, making three birdies on the day, while fellow junior Linn Andersson and sophomore Covadonga SanJuan halved the final team score at two-over, 74.

Junior college opponent Daytona State holds the team lead at one-under, 287, behind an outstanding seven-under, 65, from Jiwon Jeon. Jeon dropped in six birdies and an eagle on the day, playing the back-nine at five-under, 31. Purdue is tied with Tennessee in the team race, while Memphis is four shots back in fourth place.

Play resumes tomorrow morning as the Boilers will play with Daytona State and the Volunteers.
