LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Purdue women's golf team took fourth place at the Gifford Great 8 Match Play, hosted by UCLA at Brentwood Country Club on Tuesday, falling to Colorado in the third-place match, 3-2. The Boilermakers finish the event at 1-2, topping Ohio State, but falling to USC and the Buffalos in the next two rounds.

Senior August Kim protected her unblemished match play record Tuesday, defeating Brittany Fan by a narrow margin of 1-up, while junior Marta Martin earned a 1-up victory over Robyn Choi. Kim trailed early to Fan, but evened things up after three holes. Things stayed even until after the turn, where Kim took a slight lead of her own before going back to all square with five holes to play. The final difference maker game on the 17th hole as Kim made par and then held off Fan on the final hole. Kim shot one-under, 71, for the day in her win. Martin led the whole way over Choi and weathered a late rally to win the final hole for the victory.

Sophomore Covadonga SanJuan and freshman Micaela Farah lost by narrow margins Tuesday as Colorado's Kristy Hodgkins won the last hole to break a tie, while Farah matched Gillian Vance with a bogey on the last hole to come up short of all square. Colorado's Esther Lee earned the deciding point with a 3&2 win over Linn Andersson.

The Boilermakers head east for the remainder of Spring Break, set to play in the 3M Augusta Invitational beginning Friday at Forest Hills Golf Club.
