RIO GRANDE, P.R. - The 13th-ranked Purdue women's golf team turned in an 11th-place finish at the 15th-annual Lady Puerto Rico Classic, hosted at the Rio Mar Country Club River Course on Tuesday. The Boilermakers shot 10-over, 298, in the final round to finish +40, 308-298-298=904, while sophomore Covadonga SanJuan turned in the top individual effort for the team, tying for 16th place at four-over, 220, for the tournament.

After carding a two-under, 70, in the second round, SanJuan finished up with a score of two-over, 74, Tuesday and finish five shots behind the individual medalists. She played solid golf most of the round, making 14 pars after making birdie on her first hole of the day (No. 11). After struggling in the first two rounds senior August Kim got things going Tuesday, shooting even-par, 72, including an eagle on the par-four ninth hole. Kim's eagle is her first of the year and the first by a Boilermaker during the 2016-17 season.

Junior Marta Martin had the Boilermakers' No. 2 score Tuesday, making a pair of birdies on her way to one-over, 73, while freshman Micaela Farah had the fourth and final team score of the day at seven-over, 79.

North Carolina State overcame a nine-shot deficit to take home team championship honors, as Naomi Ko, Sarah Bae and Leoni Bettel all shot two-under, 70, Tuesday and the team turned in a round of three-under, 285, marking the second-lowest final round in tournament history. Furman and Kent State tied for second, finishing one shot behind North Carolina State. Ko finished in a five-way tie for medalist honors, matching Maria Vesga of Baylor, Haylee Harford of Furman, Amy Lee of Baylor and Panitta Yusabai of Maryland at one-under, 215.

Purdue returns to action in two weeks, heading to The Woodlands Country Club in Texas for The Dickson, hosted by the University of Houston on Feb. 27 and 28.
