Introducing Stephanie Ramsey

Feb. 4, 2017

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - A familiar face is back in the Boilermaker dugout in sophomore utility player Stephanie Ramsey, who saw action in 17 games as a rookie in 2015. A scrappy player who thrives on turning double plays and producing solid contact at the plate, Ramsey looks to break into the Boilermaker lineup in 2017.

"Ramsey returned to Purdue softball this year after not competing last season," head coach Boo De Oliveira said. "She worked really hard this fall to get back into the mix of things. Her bat has become consistent and she will compete at second base and in the outfield. Rams is one of the hardest workers on the team, not only making herself better, but pushing the entire team to get better."

In 17 games, including two starts, one at designated player and one in right field as a freshman, Ramsey batted .200 with five runs, one hit by pitch and one steal. She also made good on all four of her defensive chances.

The Noblesville, Indiana, native, who gets hyped up for games by listening to Eric Thomas's "How Bad Do You Want It" motivational speech, dreams of working in public relations for an NFL team. She looks up to her older sisters, whom she says have showed her the way ââ'¬" the rights and the wrongs ââ'¬" and also says her dad has helped make her the person she is.

Ramsey isn't all inspiration and seriousness though; she also has a funny side and finds joy in coming up with puns. She would like to have dinner with Will Ferrell and Adam Sandler and says actress Zoey Deschanel would play her in a story of her life due to her awkwardness.
