WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Boilermakers will make their 11th NCAA Tournament appearance in the last 13 years Thursday when they face Iowa State in the first round at the Hearnes Center in Columbia, Missouri.
Purdue (18-13, 8-12 B1G) will face the Cyclones (18-10, 10-6 Big 12), who finished third in the Big 12 and are making their 11th straight NCAA appearance. Rounding out the four-team pool are No. 15 seed Missouri (25-5, 16-2 SEC) and Northern Illinois (25-5, 15-1 MAC). The host Tigers split the Southeastern Conference title with Florida, while the Huskies won the Mid-American Conference title.
The Boilermakers will face Iowa State at 5:30 p.m. ET Thursday. Missouri and Northern Illinois will square off at 7:30 p.m. The winners of the two matches will play at 7 p.m. ET Friday.
Purdue won the lone previous meeting with Iowa State, topping the Cyclones 3-0 at the Boilermaker Fall Preview in West Lafayette on Sept. 2, 1989.
The Boilermakers boast a 3-0 series lead on the Tigers, including the most recent meeting, Dec. 7, 2013, when Purdue topped Missouri in the NCAA Second Round in Columbia. Purdue is 4-0 all-time against Northern Illinois, with the latest contest coming Sept. 11, 1992.
