Results - Big Green Invite
LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The women's tennis team will make its last appearance of the fall season this weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada. Nine players, the largest brigade Purdue has entered into a single event this year, are competing at the UNLV Invite beginning Friday. Purdue's tenth player, Caitlin Calkins, is still waiting to make her 2016-17 debut due to injury.
The three-day tournament features six additional programs, including Arizona, Colorado State, North Carolina State, SMU, Texas A&M and host UNLV. Additionally, the event is comprised of five flights of singles and two flights of doubles; all finals matches will take place Sunday.
Head coach Laura Glitz is keeping the majority of the lineup the same as last weekend, hoping to build on the success the Boilermakers found at the Big Green Invite in Hanover, N.H.
Three seniors -- Natalia Davila, Andjela Djokovic and Deborah Suarez -- all went 3-0 in singles against Dartmouth, Missouri and Penn State. Standout freshman, Alex Sabe, joined Davila in doubles, where the duo finished 2-1 against the same three schools. Glitz is also pairing Paola Maza Portuondo and Grace Schaffer together this weekend -- neither competed at the Big Green Invite. Furthermore, the UNLV Invite will be Schaffer's first competition this fall.
