WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Three members of the men's tennis team compete today at the ITA All Americans Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Benjamin Ugarte starts his singles match at 12 p.m. ET; he is set to face D. King of Yale in the qualifying round of the tournament. This afternoon, Gergely Madarasz and Ricky Medinilla will complete together in the opening round of doubles against a pair from Tulsa. Their match is scheduled for 2 p.m.
Medinilla saw his first action of the tournament Saturday in the pre-qualifying round of singles, where he lost 4-6, 1-6 to Nebraska's T. Boyer. Teammate Athell Bennett also made his first appearance Saturday, losing 0-6, 6-2, 3-6 to U. Gaismins of UMKC. Madarasz is already slated in the main draw of the tournament; his first singles match is on Oct. 6.
The remaining members of the men's tennis team traveled to Toledo, Ohio last weekend for the UT Rocket Invitational. Together, they finished 5-16 in singles matches and 0-1 in doubles. Dominik Sochurek delivered the team's strongest showing, winning three of the five over the course of the weekend.
