WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- The highly-ranked Purdue men's golf team will see where it stands this weekend at the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational in Windermere, Florida.
Boilermakers Head to Sunshine State for Elite Event
- The Purdue men's golf team faces its stiffest challenge of the season this weekend as it heads to the prestigious Tavistock Collegiate Invitational in Orlando. The event will be played at an elite course and the home of Tiger Woods, the Isleworth Golf & Country Club -- a 7,544-yard, par-72 layout designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay with a redesign in 2003 by Steve Smyers.
- Every team of the 15 squads in the field is ranked in the nation's top 100 by Golfweek.com, including four of the top seven teams in the country. Ranked No. 30, Purdue is 1-of-10 teams ranked in the nation's top 50. Purdue is 0-4-0 against teams ranked ahead of it in the field, but 3-0-0 against teams below it.
Purdue at This Event
- This will mark Purdue's first appearance in the event and be the Boilermakers' ninth straight year competing in a Florida event. However, if you take away the Big Ten Match Play Championships, it will be Purdue's first appearance to the state since the 2012-13 season and the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular (T-2nd / 18).
- The event is considered, along with the OFCC / Fighting Illini Invitational, among the top events during the fall season on the collegiate golf schedule. Purdue, Illinois, North Carolina and Arizona State are the four teams that will compete in both events.
