MTEN Begins Fall Play on the Road

Sept. 15, 2016

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue men's tennis starts off the fall season this weekend as three members of the team travel to Valparaiso, Indiana, for the Valpo Fall Invitational. The Boilermakers represent one of seven schools participating in the two-day event, which is scheduled to begin Friday at noon. The other six schools include Butler, Washington U., Eastern Illinois, Chicago State, Olivet Nazarene and Valpo.

Historically, the men's team makes its debut at its own invitational, which takes place next weekend; however, head coach Pawel Gajdzik is focused on increasing the number of appearances his players make this year.

"The more playing time and exposure I can provide my players, the better athletes they'll become," Gajdzik said. "We have a great program at Purdue, and I'm determined to help each of my guys bridge the gap between college and professional tennis. That starts with time spent on the court."

Purdue is also sending senior Ricky Medinilla to Columbus, Ohio, this weekend for the USTA Pro Circuit Collegiate Series $50K Challenger.
