WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's golf trio of senior August Kim, junior Marta Martin and sophomore Covadonga SanJuan were named to the 2016-17 Big Ten Preseason Watch List on Wednesday afternoon, marking the second straight year for Kim and Martin and the first career honor for SanJuan. The Boilermakers are two weeks away from their fall season opener, getting things started Sept. 12 at the Minnesota Invitational.

The last six months have been incredibly impressive for Kim, most recently advancing to the second stage of the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Qualifying School. After winning the 2016 Big Ten Championship at The Fort Golf Resort in Indianapolis, the rising senior also claimed medalist honors at the North & South Amateur Championship at Pinehurst Golf Country Club, and the U.S. National Amateur Championship qualifier at Hawk Pointe Golf Club in Washington, New Jersey. She sank her first career hole-in-one over the summer as well, dropping an ace at the WWGA Amateur National Championships.

A 2015 Second Team All-Big Ten honoree, Martin spent the summer with the Spanish national team, winning the European Team Championship in July. She tied for 17th at the Big Ten Championships last season, helping the team to a third-place finish and finished third on the team with 69 birdies for the season.

SanJuan played just the second half of the 2015-16 season, but made an instant impact with the Old Gold and Black. She had three top-20 individual finishes, including her fifth-place effort at the MountainView Collegiate, and finished 2-1 in match play. She had five rounds of par or better, including her collegiate-best mark of three-under, 69, in the final round at MountainView.

The Boilermakers are scheduled to play just three events in the fall, starting with the Minnesota Invitational, heading to Northwestern for the Windy City Collegiate Classic and finishing up with their annual trip to the Landfall Tradition.
