WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - For the past six years, Purdue softball has supported alumna Ashley Courtney and her family in raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through the annual Light the Night Walk. Combined, the groups have raised more than $75,000 for LLS since 2010.
Courtney, a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection as an infielder from 2010 to 2013, lost her father Mike to lymphoma in May 2010.
The Courtney family participates in the Light the Night Walk under the team name Angels in the Outfield, while the Boilermakers do so under a separate Purdue Softball account. Every dollar counts in the fight against leukemia and lymphoma and every dollar donated to LLS goes toward helping families who are battling blood cancers and to help LLS with research.
This year, in conjunction with the Angels in the Outfield, we are aiming to get at least one donor from all 50 states, while raising more than $2,500 on our own.
