Gibson Named VB Volunteer Assistant

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Levi Gibson will join the Boilermaker staff as a volunteer assistant coach in 2016 after spending the last three years as a head coach with the Asics Munciana Volleyball Club 14s team and as a manager with the Ball State volleyball team.

“I am very excited for the opportunity to join the Boilermaker coaching staff for 2016,” Gibson said. “Everyone here has welcomed me with open arms. I look forward to making West Lafayette my new home.”

At Munciana, Gibson coached the 14 National Spartans in 2016 and the 14 National Roos in 2014 and 2015 and was a volunteer assistant to the 16 Open Ninjas in 2015. He also helped train Munciana athletes from the 13-18 open/national divisions, which went on to win a national championship and earn two runner-up and a fifth-place finish at the AAU Open Division Nationals.

In the summer of 2015, Gibson served an internship with the club, including coordination of the Munciana Classic tournament, which featured more than 170 teams.

The son of Mark and KimMarie Gibson has been an instructor as skills camps across the state of Indiana since 2009, beginning at the Zionsville High School men’s and women’s volleyball camps. He aided with the team and elite skills camps at Ball State in 2013 and 2014. He also served on the staff at Purdue’s setter and team camp in 2014, at Butler’s skills camp in 2014 and Munciana’s team and skills camps in 2014 and 2015.

As a student manager at Ball State for two and a half years, Gibson helped with all team and individual training sessions, while providing assistance with a video, statistics, DataVolley entry and scouting reports while coordinating operations of the team merchandise store during the season.

The Zionsville, Indiana, native graduated in May 2016 with a degree in sports administration from Ball State and a minor in foundations of management and coaching.
