EUGENE, Ore. - Janae' Moffitt, Micaela Hazlewood and Chelsie Meeks wrapped up the women's season Saturday at Hayward Field for the NCAA Championships. The Boilermakers added two second team All-American honors and an Honorable Mention.
Moffitt was in the high jump and cleared 1.72 meters (5-8.00) on her first attempt. The freshman then moved on to 1.78m (5-10.00), where she cleared, but needed two attempts. Moffitt then moved on to her personal record bar, 1.82m (5-11.50), but was unable to clear. Her best attempt was her third try, but she clipped the bar just enough with her heels. Moffitt wrapped up her freshman season with an 11th place finish and second team honors.
Hazlewood was in the discus for the second year in a row. The sophomore was in the second flight and had her best throw on her first attempt. She opened with a throw of 53.17m (174-5), which would prove to be her best. The mark was just short of qualifying for finals and she went on to finish 13th and earn second team honors. Last season, she was honorable mention.
Meeks was also in the discus. The junior made her first appearance at the NCAA Championships and came out of flight one. She opened with a toss of 49.00m (160-9), which went on to finish 11th in the flight. She finished 23rd overall and will earn honorable mention honors.
The women finish the meet tied for 52nd with three points.
The Boilermakers wrapped up the season with the meet. The team had seven first team All-Americans and 10 second teamers.
