Texas Relays Meet Headquarters
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The track & field teams return to action this week with three meets, including the prestigious 2016 Nike Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. The meet is set to begin Wednesday with the first events of the decathlon and heptathlon, before wrapping up Saturday evening.
The Boilermakers will also send a select group of distance runners to the Stanford Invitational on Friday and Saturday, while others yet will compete in the Bobcat Invitational, hosted by Texas State, alongside the Texas Relays.
THE MEETS
2016 Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays
More than 7,500 athletes are scheduled to compete in the Texas Relays, the largest field in the history of the meet. The meet is in its 89th year and will be held at Myers Stadium on the University of Texas' campus. Action starts Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. ET with the multi-events. Thursday's action includes the conclusion of the multis, as well as the first track and field events. Friday's action begins at 10 a.m. ET and runs through 11 p.m. The meet concludes Saturday evening.
The Longhorn Network will provide coverage of the meet with 14 total hours, including 11 live. The network will carry action every day of the meet.
Bobcat Invitational
The meet, hosted by Texas State, runs Thursday through Saturday. Chukwuebuka Enekwechi, Caleb Fricke and Micaela Hazlewood are among those scheduled to compete in the throwing events at the Texas State meet, while Jessica Harter will compete in the pole vault. Other entries will be determined later in the week.
Stanford Invitational
Five Boilermakers are making the trip to Stanford, California, for the Stanford Invitational. The meet runs Friday and Saturday. Matthew McClintock will run the 1,500-meter run, Tate Schienbein is scheduled to compete in the 5,000-meter run, Katie Hoevet and Kiara McIntosh are entered in the women's 1,500-meter run and Kendall Hacker is in the women's 5k.
Boilermakers Competing
Tim Deal and Matthew Garrison get things started for the Boilermakers with the decathlon Wednesday morning. Symone Black is scheduled to compete in the women's 400-meter hurdles Thursday at 5:30 p.m. ET. Black is the school-record holder in the event and currently has the nation's No. 5 time this season. Enekwechi also competes Thursday. The school hammer throw record holder competes in the event at 3 p.m.
Friday's action will be highlighted by the women's 4x100-meter relay team, which is coming off an All-American season last year. The prelims of that event are scheduled for 10:35 a.m. Saturday's action will include the finals for most track events, as well as the 4x200m relays. The Boilermakers have a team entered on the men's and women's sides.
