KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Purdue's Ricky Medinilla punched his ticket to the round of 16 at the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships while playing at the Knoxville Racquet Club on Friday. Medinilla will look to make his second career appearance in the tournament's quarterfinals when he takes on Igor Smelyanski of Tennessee at the Goodfriend Tennis Center on Saturday at 9 a.m. ET.

Medinilla posted his second straight-set victory in as many days with a 6-3, 7-6 showing against Dima Zyhmantovich of Middle Tennessee State in the round of 32.

Mateus Silva was unable to join Medinilla in the quarterfinals, falling in three sets to Tennessee's Preston Touliatos. Silva captured the second set 6-3, but Touliatos won the first and third 6-4, 6-3, respectively.

The other half of the competing Boilermakers, Lucas Dages and Arthur Dobradin, found success in the consolation B draw. Dages used a 6-2, 6-4 match to bypass Evan Borowski of Austin Peay to move into the round of 16 where he will face Nemanja Guzina of Ball State Saturday at 9 a.m.

It was an easy task for Dobradin to defeat Memphis' Louis Asser, posting matching set scores of 6-1. The senior's round of 16 opponent Saturday will be Matthew McCoy of Indiana. The match is scheduled for a 10:30 a.m. start.
