JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -
Micaela Hazlewood became the third Boilermaker to punch a ticket to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon, after finishing top 12 in the discus. Purdue will look to add a handful of more entries on Saturday, the meet's final day.

Hazlewood entered the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds with the No. 30 mark in the east region for the discus. The freshman, who competed in the second of three flights, opened with a foul right of the sector on her first career regional attempt. Her second attempt put her in the top 10 in the flight with a mark of 48.77 meters (160-0). Needing a big throw to have a chance to advance, potentially the biggest of her career, Hazlewood threw a personal record distance of 50.95m (167-2), the No. 5 mark in program history, to put her in second heading into the final flight. Her mark would hang on and finish 11th, earning her a trip to the NCAA Championships. Hazlewood joins Chukwuebuka Enekwechi and Matthew McClintock as Boilermakers who have qualified for the national championships.

Devynne Charlton breezed through her heat of the women's 100m hurdles on Friday. The Big Ten runner-up in the event ran a time of 13.07 seconds into a wind of 0.3 meters per second. She won her heat by 0.22 of a second and had the fifth-fastest time of the prelims. Charlton will compete on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. ET for a trip to Eugene.

Hope Schmelzle had a huge PR in the women's 3,000m steeplechase. The sophomore finished with a time of 10:11.79, nearly a 12-second best. Schmelzle's time ranks third in Purdue history. She finished ninth in the heat and 22nd overall.

Vanessa McLeod and Symone Black were back on the track after qualifying for quarterfinals on Thursday. McLeod posted a time of 2:07.51 in the 800m run, giving her an 18th place finish in the region. She 2.49 seconds shy of qualifying for NCAAs. Black ran a time of 59.30 in the 400m hurdles and finished 21st in the region in her rookie season.
