WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -Â The Purdue track and field teams are back in action this weekend with another huge meet. The Boilermakers travel to Lawrence, Kansas, for the Kansas Relays.
Purdue will travel 60 individuals to the meet, its largest group of the outdoor season aside from the team's spring break trip. The meet has dozens of teams scheduled to compete, though the top Boilermakers will compete in a scored quadrangular meet against Kansas, Kansas State and Colorado State.
In the quadrangular meet, the women will be led by the usual suspects. Carmiesha Cox, Devynne Charlton, Savannah Carson and Symone Black will be among the top sprinters for Purdue. The group will also compete in relays, from the 4x100-meter relay to the 4x400m. The Purdue women have an individual ranked in the top eight of the Big Ten in every running event, except for the 5k and 10k, though they haven't competed in the latter yet this season.
On the men's side, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi will be back in action a week after breaking his own school record in the hammer throw. The defending Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week will look to improve on his shot put PR from last week as well, which ranks second in school history. Tyler Askew will look to continue his long jump success. He also PRed last week with a mark that is the best in the Big Ten this outdoor season, and ranks sixth in Purdue history.
The Boilermakers will be busy on Friday and Saturday. The full meet schedule and heat sheets can be found at the top of the page.
