WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Purdue men's basketball head coach Matt Painter has advanced to the final round of four in the Coaches' Charity Challenge and now needs your help more than ever to win this prestigious promotion. Fans can vote once a day EVERY DAY for the next two weeks, so Purdue fans, their friends, parents, grandparents and all relatives are all encoraged to get online and stuff the ballot box for a worthy cause.
For the next two weeks, fans can vote once a day every day to advance Coach Painter and his charity, the Smith Family BReaK Thru Fund for a chance to win $100,000 for the charity.
Painter finished the round of four voting phase as the leading vote-getter just ahead of Iowa State's Fred Hoiberg. Thanks to Purdue's loyal fans and Painter's advancement into the Round of Four, $15,000 has already been raised for the charity.
Voting for the final round will conclude March 15 at noon, when the winner will be announced. Each finalist's charity will receive $15,000, while the winning charity will receive a contribution of $100,000. The finals round will run from March 2 to March 15.
Painter will face off with Hoiberg, Wichita State's Gregg Marshall and Michigan's John Beilein.
The Smith Family BReaK Thru Fund is a West Lafayette-based organization whose mission is to fund research to fight Niemann-Pick Type C Disease (NPC). The fund was set up by a family with three children impacted by NPC, and has funded more than $250,000 in research at Purdue since its inception in 2008.
