Just call him the fastest man in the Big Ten. Senior running back Raheem Mostert won the 100m and 200m dashes at the conference outdoor championship on his home track in West Lafayette on Sunday. He also anchored the 4x100m relay team that finished second. All total, he helped the men's team amass 28 points in three events.
Running the 4x100 relay with teammates Tyler Askew, Andrew Kendrick and Eric Harris first, Mostert helped the Boilermakers finish second with a time of 39.38. The foursome was narrowly edged out by Iowa's championship time of 39.35.
In the 100, Mostert crossed the finish line with a time of 10.30, which established a new track record and was .15 seconds faster than runner up Timothy Faust of Ohio State (10.45).
Finally, he took gold in the 200 with a time of 20.66, finishing well in front of second-place finisher Faust's time of 20.95.
Including his 60m and 200m victories at the indoor championship in March, Mostert has won four individual conference titles during the track season.
The senior is coming off a spring that saw him finish with 106 all-purpose yards in the Black and Gold game on April 12.
