Williams Named Second Team All-Big Ten

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Junior defensive back Frankie Williams has been named second team All-Big Ten by the conference coaches. He was named honorable mention All-Big Ten by the media vote.

Starting 11 games as either a safety or cornerback, Williams wrapped up the 2014 season with 74 tackles, third on the team, with 1.5 tackles for loss and a sack. The Tampa, Fla., native intercepted three passes, recovered a fumble and had seven PBUs. He returned one of his interceptions 39 yards for a touchdown against Iowa.

In addition to his defensive duties, Williams also served as the Boilermakers' primary punt returner. He finished the year with 11 returns for 175 yards with a long of 37. His average of 15.9 yards per return would have been second in the conference had he enough to qualify.

Senior safety Landon Feichter (coaches and media), junior kicker Paul Griggs (coaches) and junior center Robert Kugler (media) were named honorable mention All-Big Ten as well.

Senior tight end Dolapo Macarthy was selected as Purdue's representative for the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. The student-athletes chosen for the Sportsmanship Award are individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. These student-athletes are also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.
