Sophomore Ashley Morrissette's eight assists and nine rebounds would've both been career highs on Sunday.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's basketball team got the 2014-15 season underway on Sunday, defeating visiting Findlay University, 84-25, in exhibition action. Senior Whitney Bays paced the Boilermakers with 21 points and 11 rebounds, while classmate Liza Clemons chipped in 13 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks for the Old Gold & Black.

The win was the 36th straight exhibition victory for the Boilermakers, and 11th in a row under head coach Sharon Versyp. Bays and Clemons were a combined 13-of-15 from the floor, including a perfect five-for-five effort from Clemons. Sophomore Ashley Morrissette stuffed the stat sheet with six points, nine rebounds and eight assists, while classmate Bridget Perry added 13 points and a team-high four steals. Freshman Andreona Keys was the fourth Boilermaker in double figures, finishing with 10 points and four rebounds.

Purdue outrebounded the Oilers, 54-20, as Findlay's shooting woes left them just 10-of-55 from the floor and 0-for-29 from behind the arc. The Boilermakers were unable to muster much production from downtown as well, finishing just one-for-11. Senior Ciara Geiger led Findlay with eight points on the afternoon.

The Boilermakers open regular-season play on Friday, heading to intrastate rival Ball State on Friday for a 7 p.m. tip-off at Worthen Arena.
