Volleyball Not Selected For NCAA Tournament

Nov. 30, 2014

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Boilermaker volleyball team, which was ranked No. 19 in the Nov. 24 AVCA Top 25 poll, was not selected to the NCAA Tournament field, which was announced on Sunday night.

Purdue put together a 22-10 record, including a fifth-place Big Ten finish, two wins over AVCA Top 25 teams, five wins against the RPI Top 50 and victories over five teams selected to the NCAA field (LSU, San Diego, Michigan State, Ohio State, Western Michigan).

The Boilermakers also played five other NCAA Tournament teams, including four seeded teams - No. 4 seed Wisconsin, No. 5 Penn State, No. 9 Illinois, No. 14 Nebraska, and Western Kentucky.

Two seniors - KiKi Jones and Val Nichol - have wrapped up their careers in the Old Gold & Black. The pair led Purdue to a 97-38 record in their four years, including two NCAA Sweet 16 appearances and an Elite Eight berth in 2013.

Purdue will celebrate the season at its annual banquet on January 23.
