WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Purdue women's swimming and diving closes out its fall schedule with another trip to Columbus where it will look to post a host of season-best times at the five-team Ohio State Invitational.

The three-day, six-session meet at OSU's McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion features preliminaries at 11 a.m. Friday, 8:30 a.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday. Finals begin at 6 p.m. Friday, 6:30 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday.

No. 18 Ohio State, No. 23 Wisconsin and No. 25 Purdue represent the nationally ranked teams in the women's field this year. Kentucky and Kenyon College (Gambier, Ohio) will also have full teams in attendance. Miami (Ohio) and Virginia will be represented by divers only.

Purdue's men's divers are also competing in Columbus this weekend as their teammates race at the Arena/Minnesota Grand Prix in Columbus.

Last month, the Purdue women and the men's divers competed against Ohio State and Cincinnati in a triple dual at McCorkle. Abby Jagdfeld (100 free), Allie Davis (200 free), Alex Todd (100 fly), Samm Reese (1-meter diving), Jamie Bissett (1-meter diving) and Steele Johnson (3-meter diving) each won an individual event.

Many Purdue divers will return to Columbus later this season for USA Diving's Winter Nationals (Dec. 16-21) and the Zone C Championships (March 12-14). Ohio State is also hosting the Women's Big Ten Championships (Feb. Feb. 18-21).

Seventeen Purdue women scored at the 2013 Ohio State Invitational, including 14 that remain active members of the program. Rhiannon Sheets (43 points) and Francesca Marr (33 points) each scored in four individual events, ranking behind only Carly Mercer among the swimmers that earned the most team points. Nika Karlina Petric (18 points) scored in three events last year. As underclassmen, Emily Fogle (200 breast) and Sheets (100 and 200 fly) set new program records at the 2011 Ohio State Invitational.

Nate Cox's platform diving victory at the 2013 Ohio State Invitational was a feat he would duplicate in the spring at the Zone C Championships. MacKenzie Tweardy also won the women's platform competition at the 2012 Ohio State Invitational and 2014 Zones. The Purdue divers will compete from the platform towers for the first time this season Sunday. Sean Mokhtari, Cox and Tweardy have enjoyed the most success on 10-meter during their careers. Johnson, a multiple-time USA Diving national champion on 10-meter, has an opportunity to compete in his best event at the college level for the first time.

Meanwhile, the Purdue swimmers will compete in the 400 medley and 800 free relays for the first time this season. Fogle and Sheets were part of the record-setting 400 medley relay team at the 2012 Big Ten Championships. Sunday, the distance freestyle specialists will swim the mile for the first time this year as well.

The three-day, six-session NCAA Championships format utilized this weekend features 18 swimming and all three diving events. The 800 free relay, platform diving and mile are finals only events.

The McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion features a 10-lane competition pool and in the past all 10 lanes have been utilized at invitational meets. In that scenario, a swimmer has to finish at least sixth in the B final to score points for his or her team.
