WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Senior Justin Sinz, junior Robert Kugler and sophomore J.J. Prince have been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District V team. The trio is now eligible for Academic All-America honors.
Sinz, a tight end from Edgar, Wis., graduated from Purdue in August with a 3.63 cumulative GPA in health and Kinesiology. He is currently enrolled in graduate school and is studying sports management. Having appeared in all nine games thus far, he is third on the team with 26 receptions for 218 yards and one touchdown. Dating to last season, he has caught at least one pass in 21 consecutive games. Sinz has been Academic All-Big Ten each of the last three years and had a perfect 4.0 GPA in the spring semester.
Kugler, a center from Pittsburgh, Pa., was a 2013 Academic All-District V member. A two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, he has a 3.86 cumulative GPA in a double major of political science and honors history. Kugler has started in 28 consecutive games dating to the 2012 season and blocks for a rushing attack that averages nearly 175 yard per game this year. He was voted one of three captains in a vote by his teammates prior to the 2014 season. He hada perfect 4.0 GPA in the spring semester.
Prince, a right guard from Southlake, Texas, has a 3.93 cumulative GPA in economics and is scheduled to graduate from Purdue this December - a full five semesters prior to his eligibility expiring. He has never received a grade lower than an A-minus in a college class and has been on the dean's list and held semester honors for the last four terms. He enrolled at Purdue with 25 college hours to his credit before taking a class. Prince is a member of an offensive line that blocks for a rushing attack that averages nearly 175 yards per game this season.
