June Stewart Invitational Up Next for Women's Tennis

Oct. 9, 2014 WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's tennis team will hit the road to play in its third tournament of the fall season, the June Stewart Invitational hosted by Vanderbilt. The three-day tournament gets underway Friday in Nashville, Tenn., and runs through Sunday.

Weather is anticipated to be a factor once again and will dictate Friday and Saturday's starting time. With rain, play indoors will begin at 10 a.m. ET. If there is no rain, Saturday's action outside will start at 11 a.m., with Sunday starting at 10 a.m.

The Boilermakers will be playing in a hidden dual format, which resembles the dual format used in spring competition. Rather than using a traditional singles and doubles draw, the June Stewart Invitational will feature three dual matches for each team, each comprised of three doubles matches and six singles matches. Singles matches will be best two of three sets no-ad with a 10-point tiebreaker for a third set.

In addition to Purdue and host Vanderbilt, the tournament will feature Princeton and Arizona State. A total of nine nationally ranked individuals and a trio of doubles teams could be in action. The Commodores boast five ranked singles players: No. 39 Frances Altick, No. 44 Georgina Sellyn, No. 50 Sydney Campebell, No. 63 Courtney Colton and No. 82 Marie Casares. Colton and Campbell is the country's No. 17 preseason tandem, while Altick and Casares check in at No. 60. Desirae Krawczyk and Stephanie Vlad are the ranked Sun Devils at Nos. 28 and 46, respectively. Representing Princeton is No. 48 Alanna Wolff and No. 67 Lindsay Graff. Together the two Tigers are listed at No. 42 in the doubles ranking.
