Oct. 8, 2014 WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue head wrestling coach Tony Ersland has invited fans to attend an open practice as the Boilermakers welcome the arrival of the 2014-15 season. Practice will be held in Lambert Fieldhouse 1:30 - 3 p.m. ET Saturday prior to the Purdue football game at 3:30 p.m.
Saturday's open practice offers fans the opportunity to check out Ersland and first-year assistant coaches Tyrel Todd and Zach Tanelli in action as well as the Boilermakers' four returning NCAA qualifiers: Danny Sabatello, Brandon Nelsen, Chad Welch and Braden Atwood.
The Boilermakers will have three weeks of practice before heading to the Michigan State Open on Nov. 2 to compete unattached, setting the stage for the Gold & Black Matches on Nov. 8, where starting roles will be contested. Fans are invited to attend the Gold & Black Matches, which will be held in Lambert Fieldhouse prior to the Purdue football game against Wisconsin. Time for the Gold & Black Matches is pending the football game's kickoff, which has yet to be announced.
