Boilermakers Advance to Quarter and Semifinals in Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Purdue's Daniela Vidal earned a spot in the singles main draw quarterfinals, while her and Tess Bernard-Feigenbaum moved into the doubles main draw semifinals of the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships Sunday while playing on the courts at the Goodfriend Tennis Center and Knoxville Racquet Club. The doubles semifinals will get underway at 9 a.m. ET and Vidal's quarterfinal match is scheduled for 12 p.m. Both will be played at the Goodfriend Tennis Center.

The fourth-seeded duo of Vidal and Bernard-Feigenbaum had no problem disposing of their quarterfinal opponents, Lyn Yee Choo and Ioanna Markesini of East Tennessee State, posting their second consecutive 8-3 victory. The Boilermaker tandem will take their 11-0 record into a semifinal battle against top-seeded and 12th-ranked Nadia Ravita and Aldila Sutjiadi of Kentucky on Monday.

In the round of 32, Vidal made easy work of Christine Guerrazzi of Miami (Ohio), surrendering just three games in a 6-3, 6-0 victory. She continued her dominant play against Xavier's Cristina Di Lorenzo winning a 6-2, 6-2 match to earn her spot in the quarterfinals. The Purdue senior carries a 10-3 mark into Monday's quarterfinal match with Vanderbilt's Courtney Colton. The Commodore is the No. 2-seed in the draw and is ranked 63rd nationally.

In addition to Purdue and host Tennessee, teams represented at USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships include: Austin Peay, Ball State, Belmont, Chattanooga, Eastern Kentucky, East Tennessee State, Indiana, IUPUI, Kentucky, Lipscomb, Louisville, Memphis, Miami (Ohio), Middle Tennessee State, Morehead State, Murray State, Northern Kentucky, UT Martin, Vanderbilt, Western Kentucky and Xavier.

Singles and doubles champions from each of the 12 USTA/ITA Division I Regional Championships will advance to the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center Nov. 6-9 in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.
