NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Purdue women's tennis team won four singles matches and both of its doubles matches during the second day of the June Stewart Invitational Saturday at the Currey Tennis Center. The tournament concludes on Sunday with play starting at 10 a.m. ET.
Andjela Djokovic continued her stellar fall campaign by picking up her eighth win, a 6-1, 6-2 dominating match over Princeton's Emily Hahn. Sophomore counterpart Natalia Davila (4-1) also delivered a straight-set victory against her Princeton opponent Katie Goepel, 7-5, 6-4. The third Boilermaker to win in straight sets was Krisztina Kapitany (5-3) with a 7-6 (5), 6-2 outing against Vanderbilt's Ellie Yates.
Daniela Vidal took the first set from Princeton's Amanda Muilawan, 6-4, but the Tiger bounced back to take the second set in the breaker, 7-6 (8). Vidal wasn't to be had though, winning the 10-point breaker 11-9 to push her fall record to 7-1.
Purdue put two new doubles teams out on the court Saturday and both came away victorious. The sophomore tandem of Djokovic and Nicole Robinson made easy work of Vanderbilt's Courtney Colton and Payton Robinette, 6-3, 6-1. Juniors Kapitany and Deborah Suarez used a 6-3, 6-4 match to dispose of Joan Cannon and Caroline Joyce.
