WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue's Ricky Medinilla finished as the Flight A runner-up in the third and final day of the Purdue Fall Invitational held at the Schwartz Tennis Center Sunday. The Boilermaker sophomore withdrew from the tournament prior to his Flight A finals match against Toledo's Stjepan Sisko.
Sunday's play featured the championship and consolation championship matches for seven singles flights and three doubles flights. Sixteen teams had players represented at the tournament, including: Butler, Case Western, Chicago, Chicago State, Cleveland State, DePaul, Eastern Kentucky, Iowa, IUPUI, Marquette, Memphis, Tennessee Tech, Toledo, UW Green Bay, Valparaiso and Western Michigan.
Purdue will be back in action at the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships Sept. 27 - Oct. 2 in Tulsa, Okla. The event, which is hosted by the University of Tulsa, has Pre-qualifying, Qualifying and Main Draws for singles and Qualifying and Main Draws for doubles.
Medinilla, Diego Acosta, Mateus Silva and Renan Hanayama were selected for Pre-qualifying singles (Sept. 27-28), while the 41st-ranked duo of Acosta and Medinilla were chosen for the Qualifying doubles draw (Sept. 29-Oct. 1).
