WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's basketball team continues its tradition of community support this weekend by participating in the 2014 Lafayette Hunger Hike. This year's event has been split into two days, featuring a 5K run on Saturday and a 3K walk on Sunday, with all proceeds going to support Lafayette Urban Ministry Food Programs, Food Finders Food Bank, Inc. and St. Thomas Aquinas' Haiti Ministry.

Purdue head coach Sharon Versyp continues to serve as a co-chair for the event, and realizes its importance for the community. "We're very thankful to be involved in such a great event and have the opportunity to support our community," said Versyp. "We want to get as many people out and support the Hunger Hike as possible."

Saturday's 5K run is set to begin at 9 a.m. at Cumberland Park in West Lafayette, while Sunday's 3K walk begins at 2 p.m. from Riehle Plaza in Downtown Lafayette. The Boilermakers will attend Sunday's event and will have assorted information about the upcoming season.
