WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Alex Hairston's scored the lone goal of the day midway through the second half to lift Purdue women's soccer to a 1-0 win against Michigan in spring exhibition action Saturday afternoon at the Boilermaker Soccer Complex.
The Boilermakers improved to 2-1-3 this spring. Michigan was 16-5-3 in the fall, advancing to the sweet 16 round of the NCAA Tournament.
Hairston scored into the lower left corner of the goal with a left-footed shot in the second half, gaining possession after a scramble in the 18-yard box. It was her second goal of the spring.
Purdue goalkeeper Clara Kridler made six of her seven saves including, including a nice punch save to deflect a free kick out of bounds.
The weather played a factor in the game with strong winds affecting ball control for both teams.
The Boilermakers will host an alumni game Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Soccer Complex.
