NAMPA, Idaho - The Purdue track and field teams wrapped up the NCAA Indoor Championships on Saturday with the final two Boilermakers competing. Geoff Davis was in the men's high jump and Dani Bunch in the women's shot put.
Davis competed first for the Old Gold and Black on Saturday. The junior cleared 2.10m (6-10.75) on his second attempt at the height and was unable to clear another bar. That height earned him a tie for 15th place in the country. Nick Ross of Arizona won the event after clearing 2.23m (7-03.75).
Bunch competed late Saturday night. The sophomore finished 16th in the country in the shot put with a throw of 15.69m (51-05.75). The winner of the event was Tia Brooks of Oklahoma. The Sooner junior threw 19.00m (62-04.00) to win the gold medal. That mark was also a facility record.
The Purdue women wrapped up the championships tied for 38th nationally with Notre Dame with six points. Leah Eber earned the six points for Purdue by earning a third place finish in the long jump on Friday. The Oregon Ducks were crowned National Champions for the third consecutive year. The Ducks finished the championships with 49 points. Kansas finished second with 39 points and LSU was third with 27.
For the men, Purdue did not finish with a team score. The Florida Gators won their third straight National Championship with a team score of 52. Arkansas was second with 47 points and Arizona was third with 41.
