First Day Results // Round Three Tee Times
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The eighth-ranked Purdue women's golf team holds a two-stroke lead after two rounds at the Windy City Collegiate Classic in Highland Park, Ill. The Boilermakers totaled a 290 in the first round of the day, followed by a 293 in the afternoon for a two-round total of 583. Purdue leads Iowa State (298-287=585) by two strokes and Texas Tech (299-296=595) by 12.
Tournament-host Northwestern is tied with San Diego State for fourth with a two-round score of 604. The Windy City Collegiate is being held at the Northmoor Country Club which is set up as a 6,108-yard, par-71 venue for the tournament.
All five of Purdue's golfers are placed in the top 20, led by seniors Maude-Aimee LeBlanc and Numa Gulyanamitta who are tied for third. LeBlanc opened with an even-par 71 and then fired a three-over par 74 for a two-round total of 145. Gulyanamitta was one-over par with a 72 in the first round and recorded a two-over par 73 in the afternoon.
Sophomore Paula Reto, competing for the Boilermakers for the first time this season, is tied for sixth with a two-round total of 146 (71-75, +4). Senior Thea Hoffmeister is tied for eighth. She and freshman Alex Stewart both recorded 76s in the morning round, but Hoffmeister rebounded with an even-par 71 in round two for a total of 147. Stewart fired a 76 in the second round to total 152 for 36 holes and a tie for 19th place.
Prima Thammaraks of Iowa State holds the individual lead with an even-par 142. She opened with a 74 but carded a three-under par 68 to stay even on the day.
The Boilermakers will tee off from hole No. 1 beginning at 9:45 a.m. ET on Tuesday in the third and final round. Live scoring is available on golfstat.com and final results will be posted to purduesports.com.
