No. 4 Purdue Earns Third Place Finish

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The fourth-ranked Purdue women's golf team saved the best for last, firing a team total of 291 on Tuesday to finish third at the Central District Invitational in Parrish, Fla. It was the Boilermakers best round of the event and brought them within three-strokes of TCU who finished second with a score of 886.

No. 17 Florida won the tournament by 29 strokes, recording a team total of 857 (290-281-286, -7).

Numa Gulyanamitta led Purdue for the second straight tournament, finishing eighth by firing a team-low one-under par 71 in the final round. Gulyanamitta opened with a 72 and fired a 76 in yesterday's afternoon session for a total of 219. The native of Thailand has finished in the top 10 of all six tournaments this season.

Junior Thea Hoffmeister fired a 73 on Tuesday and finished tied for 19th with a three-round total of 224 (73-78-73, +8). Freshmen Paula Reto and Laura Gonzalez Escallon tied for 24th with matching scores of 225. Reto carded a 74 on the final day and Escallon fired a 73. Sophomore Kishi Sinha was just two strokes back and tied for 31st with a score of 227. The Noida, India, native recorded a 75 in the final round.

Purdue's third place finish with a team total of 889 (295-303-291) placed them higher than the other Big Ten schools, including the host team, Michigan State who placed fourth (294-313-288=895).
