Sjaichudin Paces Purdue In Puerto Rico

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Sophomore William Sjaichudin posted a second-round score of 68 (-4) to help lead the Purdue men's golf team to a two-round total of 568 (-8) at the Puerto Rico Classic. The Boilermakers have used a tournament-leading four eagles to stay within three strokes of the top-five.

Purdue, who is hosting the tournament at Rio Mar Country Club, concluded round two in a tie for seventh with Northwestern. Texas used a tournament-low 269 (-19) to move ahead of the top-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys who sit eight strokes behind the Longhorns.

Sophomore Tyler Duncan carded a season-best 69 (-3) in the first round and followed it up with a solid 71 (-1) in round two. Junior Nakarintra Ratanakul posted a second consecutive 70 (-2), which places him and Duncan in a tie for 13th with two-round totals of 140 (-4).

Sjaichudin, who posted a first-round 74 (+2), is locked with eight others in a tie for 22nd. Juniors Maximo Kopp and Erich Johnston posted a pair of 73s (+1) in the second round. The juniors are tied for 40th and 50th respectively.

Cody Gribble of Texas leads the tournament with a two-round total of 132 (-12). The No. 25 golfer in the nation according to Golfweek carded a seven-under 65 to take a one-stroke lead over Harris English of Georgia and Kevin Tway of Oklahoma State.
