Women's Golf In First

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The No. 6 Purdue women's golf team will take an 18-stroke lead into the final round of play at the Windy City Collegiate Classic in Glenview, Ill. The Boilermakers opened with a team total of 279 on Monday morning, tying the school record for team-low round. They followed it up with a 285 in the second round, securing the two lowest rounds of the tournament.

Four Purdue golfers are in the top 10 as individuals after two rounds. Maude-Aimee LeBlanc, who won the Lady Northern Invitational, is in first place with a seven-under par 137, firing a 68 followed by a 69 on Monday. Numa Gulyanamitta, the 2008 Windy City Collegiate individual champion, is in second at three-under par. She opened with a 71 and carded a 70 in the afternoon for a two-round round total of 141.

Sophomore Kishi Sinha is tied for fifth with a one-under par 143. Sinha recorded a two-under par 70 in the first round and a 73 in the second. Freshman Laura Gonzalez Escallon also opened with a 70 on Monday morning and carded a 74 in the second round. She is tied for ninth with an even-par 144 with one round to go.

Freshman Paula Reto is tied for 40th, firing a 78-73 for a total of 151.

The Boilermakers will look to protect their lead and defend their title in the final round of the Windy City Collegiate on Tuesday morning.

Arizona trails Purdue in second place at 582 (288-294, +6), New Mexico is third with a total of 583 (293-290, +7), Tulane is fourth at 584 (295-289, +8) and host Northwestern is fifth with a two-round total of 588 (292-296, +12).

Teams will begin teeing off at 8:30 a.m. ET at the Glen Club, a par-72, 6,539-yard venue. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com
