WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The third-ranked Purdue women's golf team has improved to fourth place after recording a 291 in the second round of the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C. The Boilermakers are tied with No. 13 Duke with a two-round total of 593. Top-ranked UCLA leads the event with a team total of 283, No. 18 Wake Forest is second at 591 and No. 2 Arizona State is third with a 592.

Purdue's three juniors stepped up their play on Saturday. Numa Gulyanamitta fired an even-par 72 for the second day in a row and is tied for fifth with a 144. Maude-Aimee LeBlanc also recorded a 72 on Saturday and moved into a tie for 16th with a two-round total of 147.

The third junior on the Boilermaker squad, Thea Hoffmeister, improved by eight strokes from round one to round two. She carded a one-over par 73 on Saturday which moved her into a tie for 53rd.

Sophomore Kishi Sinha also improved her score in the second round. She shot a 74 and is tied for 41st with a two-round total of 151. Freshman Laura Gonzalez Escallon fired an 80 in the second round and is tied for 68th (78-80=158).

Wake Forest sophomore Cheyenne Woods, the niece of Tiger Woods, leads the field at five-under par (70-69=139).

The Landfall Tradition is serving as this year's NCAA Preview. The Country Club of Landfall Pete Dye Course is the site of the 2010 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championships, May 18 to 21. The Dye Course is par-72, 6,325-yard venue.
