WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Lady Northern Invitational at University Ridge Golf Course in Madison, Wis., was delayed in the second round due to thunder showers. Severe weather threatened the Madison area and the golfers were called off the course at approximately 6:15 p.m. EDT. The tournament had a late start in the first round due to a 20-minute delay for fog.
All teams were able to complete the first round but some golfers were through only four holes in the second before the weather delay.
Purdue fired a three-over par 291 in the opening round to hold sole possession of second place, but were tied with Michigan State for second when the golfers were pulled off the course. Ohio State leads the tournament after firing a five-under par 283 to open the event. The Buckeyes were seven-under when play was called.
After the first round, junior Maude-Aimee Leblanc was tied for first after carding a four-under par 68, tying her collegiate career low round. LeBlanc is tied for second in the second round with a score of one-over par through nine holes.
Junior Numa Gulyanamitta is tied for sixth. She opened with a two-over par 74 but is two-under in the second round through 11 holes.
Freshman Paula Reto is tied for 11th after opening with an even-par 72 and following it up at plus-one through eight holes. Sophomore Kishi Sinha is tied for 22nd, firing a 78 in the first round but going two-under through eight holes in the second round.
Freshman Laura Gonzalez Escallon is tied for 29th. She recorded a 77 on Sunday morning and is even-par after 10 holes in the second round. Junior Thea Hoffmeister is tied for 52nd after carding a 79 in the first round and playing one-over par golf through eight holes in the afternoon.
The Lady Northern will resume Monday at 8:30 a.m. with the completion of the second round. The third round will commence with a shotgun start at approximately 10:30 a.m. The same pairings used in the first two rounds also will be used for the third round.
